Sarah has worked in Financial Planning for the past 10 years. Previous roles have included managing a team of pension specialist for a large UK based insurance company and as administration support for a specialist pension provider. She holds the Financial Planning Certificate papers 1 and 2 and is working toward the full Certificate in Financial Planning.

Sarah’s responsibilities include Client, Intoducer and provider liaison, general administration, and database management.

Her outside interests include Psychology, keeping fit and Netball

John Fender Dip PFS

John is Director and owner of Buryfield Grange Pension & Investments Limited (BGLPAIL) and is our occupational pension specialist. Originally from Edinburgh he has worked in several locations around the UK before settling in the West Midlands several years ago. He holds the Advanced Financial Planning Certificate (AFPC), The Financial Planning Certificate (FPC), The Chartered Institute of Insurance (CII) G60 pensions paper, CF9 (Pensions Simplification) and is a member of the Personal Finance Society.

John has over 40 years experience in the pensions industry.

He has held senior positions within pension consultancy companies, a number of life offices, as well as Pensions Manager for a major Plc.

John has the special qualifications required to provide advice on occupational pension transfers which includes matters relating to pension in divorce.

Stephanie Painter BA Hons

Stephanie is our Business Development Manager and is based in our Medway office. She has spent all of her 23 year working career in marketing, advertising and publishing. As well as looking after the marketing functions within our businesses she assists with our Professional Introducer relationships, including Solicitors, Accountants, Independent Financial Advisers and Mortgage Brokers. Stephanie is proprietor of Painter-Lowe Communications and is fluent in German and French. Her outside interests include travel, theatre, keep fit and walking.

Anita Coomber CeRCC

Anita, our Practice Manager, has over 20 years experience in Financial Planning and Banking.

As well as being Ian's personal assistant, Anita is responsible for the day to day running of all aspects of our practice including finance, data management, Client and Introducer liaison, and provider contact.

She is a member of the Personal Finance Society and holds the Certificate in Financial Administration (Pensions) and the Certificate in Regulated Customer Care. She is currently working toward the full Certificate in Financial Planning.

Her outside interests include Football (a Chelsea supporter), Walking, Holidays and Chocolate!

Ian Painter Dip PFS, CeMap, CeLTM, CFP

Ian was born in London in 1965 and is Managing Director of Buryfield Grange Limited and Buryfield Grange Life Planning Limited. He began his working career in the City of London but after several years of commuting he decided to take up his first advisory role for a firm based in Maidstone, Kent in 1987. He has been advising Clients ever since. Previous positions have included Senior Financial Consultant, then Senior Corporate Consultant with the IFA arm of Nationwide Building Society and Regional Director with IFS Group (a national IFA). He launched his own practice in 1996 and subsequently formed Buryfield Grange Limited and Buryfield Grange Life Planning Ltd.

Ian believes in comprehensive financial planning, whilst at the same time bringing specialist investment knowledge to BGL. He is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP), holds the Advanced Financial Planning Certificate (AFPC), the Financial Planning Certificate (FPC), both the Pension and Investment papers for the Institute of Financial Services (IFS) Professional Investment Certificate (PIC), and the Certificate in Lifetime Mortgages. He is a member of both the Personal Finance Society and The Institute of Financial Planning, he holds K10 (Retirement Options), CF9 (Pensions Simplification), CF8 (Long Term Care), as well as having exemptions in G60 (Pensions), and G20 Personal Investment Planning along with an HNC in Business and Finance. Ian is authorised and regulated by the FSA, and has the special qualifications required to provide advice on occupational pension transfers and is a “suitably qualified” investment adviser under the terms of The Trustee Act 2000 . He has recently qualified as member of the internationally recognised Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT).

Ian is asked regularly to comment on industry issues and is a member of the IFA Panel for Professional Adviser Magazine. He is also an associate member of the Institute of Directors (IOD). His interests include Judo, Tai Chi, Yoga, Golf, Round Table (he is a former Chairman of City of Rochester No.56), travel, angling, Personal Development and keeping fit.
